LAHORE, Pakistan — August 22, 2026 — Independent vocal artist Omar Rashid (OR) MRX has released four original a cappella tracks, all composed and produced without autotune or instrumental backing, drawing directly from a personal crisis in 2024. The songs, “Ye dua hai meri,” “Nasha,” “Pyaar Ek Tarfa,” and “10 YEARS OF NONSENSE,” are now available on major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. Each track is built entirely from layered vocal takes and ad-libs, showcasing a raw, unadorned approach that emerged from a three-night vigil in a hospital cardiac unit where Rashid stayed with his father.
Rashid, who operates under his own label OMAR MRX RECORDS, said the hospital experience reshaped his musical direction. “The hospital experience reshaped my approach to music,” he said. “I realized that raw vocal expression could carry emotional weight without any artificial enhancement.” The vigil inspired the melody “Ye Dunia Hame Juda Nahi Kar Sakhti,” which he composed as a way to channel his emotions. That moment marked a pivot from his previous focus on lip-sync and dance videos to a commitment to vocal composition.
The 28-year-old artist is entirely self-taught, with no formal training on guitar or piano. He handles songwriting, composition, vocal arrangement, and production himself. His method involves one-take vocal layering and direct flow vocals, with rhythm beats incorporated only in his boom-bap rap tracks. His minimalist style extends to his appearance—typically a white or black shirt with slim straight jeans and boots—which he says reflects the organic purity of his compositions. His work is dedicated to his parents, Muhammad Rashid and Samina Rashid.
Rashid cites composer Amaal Mallik and artist Yo Yo Honey Singh as primary influences, blending melodic depth with rhythmic delivery. He has performed vocal renditions of songs by these artists on YouTube. His upcoming single, “Lo Aaj Phir Dil,” is scheduled for worldwide release later this year.
